Pejerrey Odontesthes bonariensis artisanal fishery: an experience. Pejerrey artisanal fishery consists in catching fish with gill nets for future sale and human consumption. Although it has historically been practiced in pampasic lagunas, there are very few records on the topic, highlighted by several clandestine aspects that surround the activity. The aim of the paper is to show the results of an artisanal fishery experience in a pampasic laguna. A previous sampling was carried out in order to obtain the main demographic parameters of pejerrey. Between May 1999 and August 2000, 45 ichthyologic samplings with experimental gill nets were put into practice, considering the adaptative management concept. The mean cpue was 582 and 475.1 kg/24 h/500 m, whereas the annual harvest was 6,402 kg and 16,156 kg for the first and second year, respectively. The yield was 16 and 40 kg/ha/year for 1999 and 2000 respectively. The experience gives and reveals information on an activity of difficult access and/or generally hidden. Key words: laguna, pejerrey, artisanal fishery, age, growth, demographics parameters.
