Resumen de Optimal dimensional synthesis of one degree of freedom fixed cam-link four-bar mechanisms to generate filleted rectangular paths

G. Ganesan, G. Ajith Kumar, V.Clinton Wilson Barnabas

  • Optimal dimensional synthesis of path generating mechanism with one degree of freedom to move the tool on a prescribed filleted rectangular path encompassing larger dimensions is investigated. Synthesis of these mechanisms are done using hybrid optimization combining Genetic Algorithm and Pattern Search tools of MATLAB. Dimensional synthesis of mechanisms is carried out employing harmonic spacing of precision points along straight lines and arcs of desired profile paths. A novel mechanism model method is adopted to reconstruct path points on coupler path corresponding to uniformly incremented input crank angle value of the mechanism. Synthesized links and cam are used to trace the filleted rectangular profile path and compared with the desired profile path simulating the mechanism with the help of a CAD package. Results are discussed and suggestions are proposed for future work.
