Santa Lucía: emporio industrial azucarero entre (1823-1868)

    El contexto de estudio de esta investigación está marcado entre su fundación 1823 ( 41) y el inicio de las luchas por la independencia de Cuba 1868, debido a la importancia que tiene este periodo para su posterior desarrollo. Nosotros nos propusimos este artículo con el propósito de desempolvar la historia inicial de una de las fábricas de azúcar más importante de la Isla de Cuba en el siglo XIX (42) y que en 1970 sería bautizado por Fidel Castro como Central Reloj, al cumplir el plan previsto en el tiempo que se le había planificado. Se seleccionó este objeto de estudio, por la influencia económica y social que tuvo en el actual municipio Rafael Freyre durante su funcionamiento. El trabajo presenta nuevas tesis que aportan al conocimiento social. Entre los nuevos saberes se destacan las dos hijas de Guillermo Secundino Sánchez Hill (43) -doña Balbina y doña Amalia María Sánchez-, que hasta el momento se pensaba que no tenía hijos. A la vez, que se expone información sobre las exportaciones que realizara Rafael Lucas Sánchez Hill y el destino de las mismas; se presentan datos de los pesos de posesión comprados por este señor en la zona norte de la jurisdicción de Holguín.

    The context of study of this research is marked between its founding in 1823 and the beginning of the struggles for the independence of Cuba in 1868, due to the importance of this period for its later development. We proposed this article with the purpose of dusting off the initial history of one of the most important sugar factories on the Island of Cuba in the 19th century and that in 1970 it would be baptized by Fidel Castro as Central Clock, when fulfilling the planned plan in the time that had been planned. This study object was selected because of the economic and social influence it had in the current Rafael Freyre municipality during its operation.The work presents new theses that contribute to social knowledge. Among the new knowledges are the two daughters of Guillermo Secundino Sánchez Hill - Sña Balbina and Mrs. Amalia María Sánchez - who until then were thought to have no children. At the same time, that information is exposed on the exports that Rafael Lucas Sánchez Hill will carry out and the fate of the same; data of the possession weights bought by this man in the northern zone of the jurisdiction of Holguín are presented.
