    La familia Bromeliaceae en México está integrada por 422especies, de las cuales 18 se encuentran en Zacatecas. El objetivo fuedescribir los usos actuales en el Valle de Juchipila y contribuir al conocimientode la flora estatal. Se colectaron ejemplares en tianguis, fiestas religiosas,huertos y vegetación natural. Se entrevistó a 41 informantes en tres munici-pios. La identificación se realizó con claves dicotómicas y comparación conejemplares de herbario. Se registraron 5 especies y 2 géneros, incluyendo elprimer registro del géneroBromeliaL. para Zacatecas.Tillandsia usneoidesdestaca como la especie de mayor valor económico. Las bromelias en elValle de Juchipila son utilizadas principalmente con fines ornamentales.Se sugiere realizar estudios para estimar los efectos de la recolección ydocumentar las prácticas de manejo en poblaciones silvestres. El registrode un nuevo género confirma la importancia de continuar con exploracionesetnobotánicas en la región sur de Zacatecas.

    The Bromeliaceae family in Mexico is composed of 422species, of which 18 are found in Zacatecas. The objective was to describethe current uses of bromeliads in the Juchipila Valley and contribute to theknowledge of the state flora. Botanical specimens were collected in tianguis,religious festivities, orchards and natural vegetation. Forty-one informantswere interviewed in three municipalities. Identification was carried out withdichotomous keys and comparison with herbarium specimens. Five speciesbelonging to 2 genera were recorded, including the first record of the genusBromeliaL. for Zacatecas.Tillandsia usneoides standing out as the specieswith the highest economic value. The bromeliads in the Juchipila Valley areused mainly for ornamental purposes. Studies are suggested to estimate theeffects of harvesting and document management practices on wild popula-tions. The record of a new genus confirms the importance of continuing withethnobotanical explorations in the southern region of Zacatecas.
