  Para el año 2050, dos terceras partes de la humanidad serán residentes urbanos, de acuerdo con cifras de la ONU. Lo anterior, ha obligado a reflexionar, desde múltiples ámbitos y sectores, sobre el presente y futuro de estos grandes conglomerados, coincidiendo todos en la necesidad apremiante de redoblar esfuerzos hacia su desarrollo sostenible, la preservación de la cultura e identidad. Por lo que el objetivo de este artículo es analizar el urbanismo y la preservación de la cultura. Si bien la cultura constituye un elemento fundamental para el desarrollo urbano, las ciudades por su naturaleza han sido, a lo largo de la historia, espacios de encuentro que facilitan la interacción social, promueven el intercambio de ideas y fomentan la creatividad e innovación;

  laboratorios vivos del devenir humano. Así, ciudad y cultura ambas fruto y consecuencia del hombre en tanto ser social, se retroalimentan y enriquecen mutuamente en incesante simbiosis. Se concluye que los entes, empresas, instituciones responsables de la urbanización deben garantizar la preservación de la cultura, como parte de la esencia propia de la sociedad .

  By the year 2050, two-thirds of humanity will be urban residents, according to UN figures. The foregoing has forced us to reflect, from multiple fields and sectors, on the present and future of these large conglomerates, all agreeing on the pressing need to redouble efforts towards their sustainable development, the preservation of culture and identity. Therefore, the objective of this article is to analyze urban planning and the preservation of culture. Although culture is a fundamental element for urban development, cities by their nature have been, throughout history, meeting spaces that facilitate social interaction, promote the exchange of ideas and encourage creativity and innovation; living laboratories of human evolution. Thus, city and culture, both the fruit and consequence of man as a social being, feed off and enrich each other in incessant symbiosis. It is concluded that the entities, companies, institutions responsible for urbanization must guarantee the preservation of culture, as part of the very essence of society.
