A lo largo de casi un año, la imagen de San Pedro Apóstol, obra de 1780 de Francisco Salzillo, ha sido intervenidaen el Centro de Restauración de la Región de Murcia. Una restauración que no sólo se ha centrado entratar los daños que la obra presentaba, sino que ha ido más allá, recuperándose la idea o diseño primitivo queel escultor imaginó para esta obra. No sólo se han rescatado elementos polícromos que desde hace cientos deaños estaban ocultos, sino que también ha sido devuelto a la composición un elemento singular e inseparablede esta iconografía, el gallo.
For almost a year, the image of Saint Peter Apostle, made by Francisco Salzillo in 1780, has been treated at theCenter of Conservation and Restoration of the Region of Murcia. This restoration has focused, not only on treatingthe damages in the image, but, furthermore, on getting the idea or original design back just as the sculptorenvisioned it for this masterpiece. Not only polychrome elements hidden for hundreds of years have been rescued,but also a unique and inseparable element to the composition in this iconography, which is the rooster.
