In the first year of the Degree in Management and Public Administration at the University of Cadiz, specifically in the subject "Economics of the Public Sector", we have implemented a teaching innovation project for the second consecutive year. This project arose from the observation of the lack of connection with the reality of the students with the public administration, fundamentally in economic matters. This second year of the project has two objectives. On the one hand, the project aims to improve the understanding of current news about public administration and the economy and, on the other hand, to develop the student's critical capacity and encourage the creation of their own opinions. Firstly, the method used consists of analysing current news items on public economics, accompanied by questions that will serve as a guide for the students. Secondly, the project will organise role-play debates in the classroom, where each student will have to defend the position previously drawn randomly. In conclusion, we have improved the project based on last year's main difficulties.
Given that it is a second-semester subject, it is not yet possible to evaluate its results in their entirety. However, compared to the previous year, we expect an improvement in the achievement of the objectives and the results of the teaching-learning process.
