In this work we deal with the dangers of the "pandemic" of tyranny. We study the case of the Thirty.
Tyrants of Athens who, coming out of the defeat of Athens by Sparta in the Peloponnesian War and after the death of Pericles in the pandemic that desolated Athens, then under siege by Sparta, substituted democracy by tyranny. We analyze the effects of tyrrany, which will affect the entire population. We also analyze the preoccupation of Renaissance humanists for being always vigilant against tyranny. We will focus on (civic) figures such as the coaetaneous Francesc Eiximenis (Kingdom of Valencia, Crown of Aragon) and Coluccio Salutati (Florence).
