Resumen de La educación histórica a través del patrimonio fotográfico: una experiencia educativa en la Universidad de Alicante

Alberto Sánchez Juan, Rubén Blanes Mora

  • The present work has been designed to understand and analyse the use of photography as a source of historical knowledge as well as its future applicability in the classroom. The proposed objectives are, on the one hand, to know the perception of the students of the Master's degree in Primary Education regarding the use of photography for the correct development of historical skills; and on the other hand, to study to what extent the so-called photographic sources allow the proper understanding of concepts such as memory or heritage.

Therefore, and after completing the didactic experience, the students were asked to answer a questionnaire with six questions elaborated on a Likert-type scale with five ordered response alternatives. The data obtained were transcribed into an Excel file and then transferred to the Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) program. The results obtained show how the photographic image enables the acquisition of certain historical skills, by stimulating the reflection and participation of the observer, although the lack of a correct visual literacy reduces the possibilities of learning, when we read superficially an image, and consequently, many of the elements that are not present in the photograph are ignored in the interpretation that will be carried out.
