    Hay conclusiones clásicas y recurrentes a todas las pláticas de café sobre política, tan ambiguas como plausibles, que permiten poner punto final a los temas de política y pasar al futbol: «el problema es la corrupción» o «es que somos un pueblo que le falta educación» son algunas de ellas. La que me interesa ahora pertenece a esa categoría: «es que hay muy baja participación ciudadana». Cualquiera que afirme lo anterior lo dice con seguridad y su interlocutor no tiene otra opción que responder con un monosílabo afirmativo.

    There are classic and recurring conclusions to all coffee talks on politics, as ambiguous as plausible, that allow us to put an end to political issues and move on to soccer: "the problem is corruption" or "we are a people that lacks education" are some of them. The one that interests me now belongs to this category: "the problem is that there is very little citizen participation". Anyone who affirms the above says it with certainty and his interlocutor has no choice but to respond with an affirmative monosyllable.
