    Desde hace algunos años se viene insistiendo en que hay un gran déficit de ingenieros en el mundo, parece ser que se están acabando las vocaciones para desempeñar esta noble labor, ¿a qué se debe esto?, las razones son varias y complejas pero una bien definida es la ignorancia, pues no se tiene una idea clara de lo que es la ingeniería, mucho menos de lo que hace un ingeniero. No es una casualidad la relación que existe entre calidad de vida de un país y cantidad de ingenieros per cápita, tan es así que varios gobiernos del mundo tienen como eje de desarrollo nacional el promover el estudio de las ingenierías.

    For some years it has been insisted that there is a great shortage of engineers in the world, it seems to be running out of vocations to perform this noble work; why is this happening?, the reasons are many and complex, but a welldefined one is the ignorance; there is no clear idea about what engineering is, neither the functions of an engineer. It is not an accident the relationship between quantity of engineers in a country and its quality of life. So truth is it that several governments around the world are promoting the study of engineering as one of its guiding principles.
