    ¿Qué relación existe entre la literatura, arte de la palabra, y la sociedad con su compleja y profunda problemática? ¿Es posible que la literatura, una de las manifestaciones más antiguas de la especie humana, intervenga y afecte positivamente al llamado tejido social? Directamente, no parece haber ningún tipo de vínculo más allá de la influencia que la llamada realidad establece de manera inevitable en todo tipo de expresión artística. Pero bien mirado, la literatura hace posible ver con más agudeza y profundidad aspectos de la misma realidad que de otro modo serían invisibles. El acto de leer se convierte, entonces, en un acto potencialmente crítico del personaje lector; si el lector se convierte en legión de lectores, el resultado sería una conciencia crítica que podría tener efectos positivos en la reorganización y construcción de las estructuras sociales. Esta es, de cierto modo, la línea de trabajo que sostiene al presente artículo.

    What is the relationship between literature, the art of words, and society’s deep and complex issues? Can the social fabric be affected in a positive way by literature, one of the oldest human expressions? There does not seem to be any direct link in this respect, other than the influence that the so-called reality inevitably has over every kind of artistic work. However, if we pay attention, literature presents itself as a magnifying glass that allows us to discover aspects of that same reality which would otherwise be invisible. The act of reading thus becomes a potentially critical stand for the reader, who could then turn into a legion of readers. The result would be a critical consciousness with potentially positive effects on the rearrangement and development of social structures. This is, in a way, the axis on which the present paper is based.
