Resumen de The theatre audience: an abstraction

Paul Newell Campbell

  • Both the actors and the audience are often thought of as essential to the “living” art of the theatre. That the performance by live actors is essential seems unquestionable, but I shall argue in this essay that the actors prepare and perform for an abstract audience. Evidence for this view is found in theoretical formulations and in theatre practices.
