  • Halite Quinn Brown was a prominent elocutionist, teacher, and political leader whose life spanned the last half of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth. Her career has been neglected by scholars, and some of her more significant activities are reviewed here. The importance of her speaking, performing, writing, and political involvement is demonstrated.
