  • Resumen
    • Research findings support both the hypothesis that males are more satisfying leaders for group members than females because of gender role socialization and the androgyny hypothesis that male and female leaders can be equally satisfying for group members. To test these hypotheses, this study focused on the effect of leader and follower gender on leader communication behavior and follower satisfaction. The results that group members were equally satisfied with male and female leaders as long as they demonstrated similar frequencies of task‐oriented behavior generally supported the androgyny hypothesis.
