    El presente artículo de investigación analiza, mediante una metodología cualitativa, la grave crisis económica especular a la española que se evidenció durante el reinado de Felipe III en el virreinato napolitano. Las conclusiones, dirigidas a descifrar los acontecimientos del virreinato –eje de la política imperial española como primer financista de las guerras de aquel entonces–, se basan en el análisis de documentos basilares como las Instrucciones que el soberano les dio a los virreyes, los Informes virreinales y algunos presupuestos que, por medio de la política económica de la monarquía española, ponen de manifiesto la situación económico-financiera del virreinato.

    The present research article analyzes by means of a qualitative methodology the serious economic crisis, to speculate to the Spanish one, that was evident during the reign of Felipe III in the Neapolitan viceroyalty. The conclusions, aimed at deciphering the viceroyalty events-axis of Spanish imperial policy as the first financier of the wars of that time, are based on the analysis of basilar documents such as the Instrucciones that the sovereign gave to the viceroys, the Viceregal Informes, and some presuppositions that, through the economic policy of the Spanish monarchy, highlight the economic-financial situation of the viceroyalty.
