    El presente ensayo pretende investigar, desde un punto de vista ficcional, la experiencia latinoamericana y venezolana de Alexander von Humboldt a partir del análisis de la película Aire libre (1996), de Luis Armando Roche. En esta película el director retrata y critica la realidad venezolana antes de un momento histórico de relevancia fundamental para Venezuela y parte de América Latina: el movimiento independentista de Simón Bolívar, mostrando paralelismos con el contexto venezolano anterior a la revolución bolivariana de Hugo Chávez.

    This paper aims to analyse the Venezuelan and Latin American experience of Alexander von Humboldt through the analysis of the film Aire libre (1996) by Luis Armando Roche. In this film, the director depicts and criticizes the Venezuelan world in a historic period which is considered of utmost importance for both Venezuela and part of Latin America: the independence movement of Simón Bolívar. In the film some parallelisms with the Venezuelan socio-political context preceding the Bolivarian revolution by Hugo Chavez can also be found.
