    From the reading of the book O Bagageiro de Stalin, published in 1946 by Editora Moderna, from Rio de Janeiro, writed by journalist and politician Benedito Mergulhão (1901-1966), we want to understand the characteristics of anticommunism in the author and the 1940's feelings about the anticommunism. In the post-war context, we analyzing the accusations dedicated to the politician Luiz Carlos Prestes (1898-1990), at the time elevated by the left to the category of Brazilian revolutionary political myth. For this, we have two complementary movements, an internal and external criticism for the book. First, we analyze Benedito Mergulhão in the Brazilian and international context of the 1940s, trying to understand the anticommunism as a structure of feeling (WILLIAMS, 1979) based on the book O Bagageiro de Stalin, whose author is Benedito Mergulhão. In complementar, we use the method of historiographical operation (CERTEAU, 2008) to analyze Luiz Carlos Prestes as an emblem of communism and anticommunism in the 1940s.

    A partir da leitura do livro O Bagageiro de Stalin, publicado em 1946 pela Editora Moderna, do Rio de Janeiro, de autoria do jornalista e político Benedito Mergulhão (1901-1966), pretendemos compreender as condições que possibilitaram as críticas do autor ao comunismo no contexto do Pós-Segunda Guerra, enfatizando as denúncias dedicadas ao político Luiz Carlos Prestes (1898-1990), na época elevado pela esquerda à categoria de mito político revolucionário brasileiro. Para isso, realizamos dois movimentos complementares, de crítica interna/externa, primeiramente analisando o lugar social do autor (CERTEAU, 2008) e em seguida o contexto brasileiro e internacional dos anos 1940; em um segundo momento investigamos o anticomunismo como uma estrutura de sentimento (WILLIAMS, 1979) presente na obra que compreendeu Luiz Carlos Prestes como um emblema do comunismo e do anticomunismo do período.
