We aim with this article to make a brief analysis about the arrival of the Portuguese court in Rio de Janeiro and the transformative impact on the artistic environment of the city. We will use the trajectory of the priest José Maurício Nunes Garcia and his titling of the Habit of Christ to demonstrate how his ascension occurred in recognition of his services rendered. We will also analyze the court habits and the building of the royal chapel in the XIX century in Rio de Janeiro.

Almejamos com esse artigo fazer uma breve análise sobre a chegada da corte portuguesa no Rio de Janeiro e o impacto transformador no ambiente artístico da cidade. Utilizaremos a trajetória do padre José Maurício Nunes Garcia e a sua titulação do Hábito de Cristo, para demonstrar como ocorreu sua ascensão pelo reconhecimento de seus serviços prestados. Traçaremos ainda uma análise sobre os hábitos de corte e a edificação da capela real no século XIX no Rio de Janeiro.
