Resumen de Matemáticas en la antigua Roma, a través del estudio etnomatemático

  No hay historiografía en la matemática de la Roma antigua. Se plantean dos objetivos, el primero consiste en establecer el nivel de desarrollo en el manejo matemático y, el segundo, explica el supuesto bajo interés por la teoría. Se recurre a la etnomatemática para dar encuadre filosófico y sociocultural. También al método de la historia crítica para realizar el estudio de fuentes.  La hermenéutica para comprender el sentido de los personajes históricos, a fin de explicar los hechos y analizar los procesos. Entre los principales resultados se encontró que el ethos de valores sociales, imperante en la época, no le concede prioridad a lo que es o cómo son las cosas, ya que implicaría considerar como sujeto social a sus formadores que son esclavos y externos (extranjeros), ponerlos en la misma condición social e incluso superando  a los formadores helenistas.

  There is no historiography in the mathematics of ancient Rome, the authors attribute the lack of mathematical philosophy to the practical spirit of the Romans. Two objectives are proposed, the first is to establish the level of development in mathematical management and the second explains the supposed low interest in the theory. Ethnomathematics is used to provide a philosophical and sociocultural framework. Also to the method of critical history to carry out the study of sources. Hermeneutics to understand the meaning of historical figures, in order to explain the facts and analyze the processes. The ethos of social values, prevailing at the time, does not give priority to what is or how things are, since it would imply considering their trainers who are slaves and externi (foreigners) as a social subject, putting them in the same social condition and even surpassing the Hellenistic shapers.
