La fachada del Teatro Principal de Valencia y otras obras en el edificio durante el siglo XIX

    El presente trabajo trata sobre el frontispicio del Teatro Principal de Valencia, obra culminante de su fábrica a mediados del siglo XIX, y una de las últimas destacadas del clasicismo académico capitalino al tiempo de la irrupción de los llamados historicismos. Con el contrato de dicha obra, se aportan datos documentales sobre los arquitectos José Zacarías Camaña y Sebastián Monleón Estellés, responsables de su levantamiento y de su concepción, respectivamente; así como de otros artífices interventores en la misma. El estudio va precedido por la historia de dicho Coliseo desde el año 1771, en que se proyectó su nueva fábrica, contribuyendo a ampliar los datos ya conocidos desde mediados del Ochocientos por la bibliografía. Del mismo modo se completa la información sobre las actuaciones en el edificio hasta los albores del siglo XX, con la presencia de los arquitectos provinciales Antonino Sancho y Joaquín María Belda.

    The present work deals with the frontispiece of the Teatro Principal de Valencia, the culminating work of its factory in the mid-nineteenth century, and one of the last highlights of the capital’s academic classicism at the time of the irruption of the so-called historicisms. With the contract for said work, documentary data is provided on the architects José Zacarías Camaña and Sebastián Monleón Estellés, responsible for its survey and its conception, respectively; as well as other architects involved in it. The study is preceded by the history of the Coliseum from the year 1771, in which its new factory was projected, contributing to expand the data already known from the mid-eight hundred by the bibliography. In the same way, the information on the actions in the building until the dawn of the 20th century is completed, with the presence of the provincial architects Antonino Sancho and Joaquín María Belda.
