Durante el presente año, las redes sociales se llenaron de intensos debates en cuanto a la licitud de celebrar el bicentenario. Definitivamente, la pandemia nos ha arrebatado muchísimas vidas y golpeado nuestro entusiasmo. El Estado de Guatemala sigue dejando mucho que desear, empezando con su incapacidad de cumplir las funciones más básicas: impartir justicia y proteger a la ciudadanía. Muchos objetaron la necesidad de siquiera tener eventos y ceremonias especiales, considerando el endeudamiento y despilfarro que hemos presenciado durante la administración de Giammattei.

During this year, social networks were filled with intense debates regarding the legality of celebrating the bicentennial. Definitely, the pandemic has taken many lives from us and hit our enthusiasm. The State of Guatemala continues to leave much to be desired, beginning with its inability to fulfill the most basic functions: imparting justice and protecting citizens. Many objected to the need to even have special events and ceremonies, considering the indebtedness and profligacy we have witnessed during the Giammattei administration.
