Resumen de Fe y libertad hispanas en el acta centroamericana del 15 de septiembre de 1821

  A la hora de analizar e interpretar el acta centroamericana del 15 de septiembre de 1821, se suele prestar poca atención a la tradición hispana sobre la que se originó dicho documento, tradición que hunde sus raíces en el pasado tardoantiguo de la península ibérica y que se fundamenta en los principios cristianos de fe y libertad. Sobre estos principios se edificó la monarquía hispánica, de la cual formó parte Guatemala desde el siglo XVI hasta principios del siglo XIX. Precisamente fueron estos principios hispanos y cristianos, de fe y libertad, los que encontramos en el acta del 15 de septiembre de 1821, principios que habían garantizado en la monarquía hispánica, y se esperaba que continuaran haciéndolo en Guatemala, libertades políticas y civiles junto a la defensa del pactismo, del rechazo al tirano y del origen democrático del poder.

  When analyzing and interpreting the Central American act of September 15, 1821, little attention is usually paid to the Hispanic tradition on which said document originated, a tradition that has its roots in the late-ancient past of the Iberian Peninsula and which is based on the Christian principles of faith and freedom. On these principles the Hispanic Monarchy was built, of which Guatemala was part from the 16th century to the early 19th century. It was precisely these Hispanic and Christian principles, of Faith and Liberty, which we find in the act of September 15, 1821, principles that had been guaranteed in the Hispanic Monarchy, and it was expected that they would continue to do so in Guatemala, political and civil liberties along with the defense of pactism, the rejection of the tyrant and the democratic origin of power.
