    El proceso emancipatorio en Hispanoamérica comenzó mucho antes de los acontecimientos que tuvieron lugar en España con la invasión napoleónica. El presente trabajo pretende dar una visión resumida de cuáles fueron los hechos previos que prepararon el camino para los levantamientos que culminarían con la independencia del continente entre 1810 y 1825. Cuál era la mirada de la elite criolla a comienzos del siglo XIX y cómo llegaron a ponerse en contacto con las ideas de la ilustración que serían determinantes a la hora de legitimar la independencia de las naciones americanas.

    The emancipatory process in Spanish America began long before the events that took place in Spain with the Napoleonic invasion. The present work tries to give a summarized vision of what were the previous events that paved the way for the uprisings that would culminate with the independence of the continent between 1810 and 1825. What was the outlook of the Creole elite at the beginning of the 19th century and how they came to get in touch with the ideas of the illustration that would be decisive when it comes to legitimizing the independence of the Hispanic American countries.The emancipatory process in Spanish America began long before the events that took place in Spain with the Napoleonic invasion.
