    Este artículo pretende evidenciar la centralidad del concepto de libertad de conciencia en el pensamiento y en la vida de Lord Acton. El historiador inglés relata la evolución del concepto de conciencia y explora la relación entre la libertad de conciencia y la libertad religiosa, civil y política, así como con la práctica del catolicismo. Asimismo, identifica los obstáculos al ejercicio personal de la libertad de conciencia.

    This article aims to highlight the centrality of the concept of freedom of conscience in the thought and life of Lord Acton. The English historian recounts the evolution of the concept of conscience and explores the relationship between freedom of conscience and religious, civil and political freedom, as well as with the practice of Catholicism. Likewise, it identifies the obstacles to the personal exercise of freedom of conscience.
