El presente ensayo se refiere a la tensión en la historia del pensamiento político anglosajón, entre un liberalismo liberal, que ve al Estado como una amenaza que se debe limitar; y un liberalismo estatista que concibe al Estado como un medio para concretar el llamado «Proyecto de la Modernidad Ilustrada». Dicha dialéctica, ha forjado la lucha política desde por lo menos el siglo XVII hasta la actualidad.

This essay refers to the tension in the history of Anglo-Saxon political thought, between liberal liberalism, which sees the State as a threat that must be limited; and a statist liberalism that conceives the State as a means to materialize the so-called «Project of Enlightened Modernity». This dialectic has forged the political struggle from at least the seventeenth century to the present.
