Estrategias Pedagógicas para Fortalecer la Cultura Ambiental Frente a la Contaminación por Residuos Sólidos en los Estudiantes de Primaria de la Sede Indígena Awá, La Brava

    Las instituciones educativas de toda la comunidad indígena Awá son testigos de grandes retos ambientales que desafían su supervivencia, por lo que se estan haceindo esfuerzos para generar  sensibilidad a favor de proteger el entorno ambiental de la contaminación. En ese sentido, se palnteo como objetivo principal iplemantar estrategias pedagógicas para fortalecer la cultura ambiental en los estudiantes de la sede educativa Awa La Brava frente a la contaminación de su entorno educativo. La metodología elegida para este estudiofue cualitativo de tipo descriptivo; se utilizo un instrumento adaptado para niños acerca de conocimientos y valoraciones respecto a la contaminación y residuos sólidos en los que participaron 36 estudiantes de primaria. A nivel de conocimientos, los estudiantes reconocen que su institución tiene un problema de contaminación ambiental, y lo relacionan con los residuos sólidos; sin embargo, no reconocen fácilmente los tipos de residuos, ni pueden emitir conceptos propios ni mecanismos ambientales para utilizar los residuos sólidos; a nivel de valoraciones, tienen un alto interés en poder aportar a la mejora de esta realidad a partir de apropiarse de nuevas acciones a favor de su ambiente; finalmente a nivel de prácticas, reconocen que no clasifican los residuos sólidos ni ha desarrollado acciones de mejora en torno a la contaminación ambiental. Frente a esto se implementó una estrategia pedagógica basada actividades variadas que van desde el arte, la comunicación social y la investigación, para finalizar en el inicio de un sistema de recolección de residuos sólidos. Se concluye que la estrategia pedagógica si aportó a la sensibilización de los estudiantes y a la actuación acorde a la formación ambiental sostenible.

    Environmental pollution is a social scourge that grows in societies where the knowledge and use of solid waste are neither sustainable nor respectful of the environment; also where environmental values are not part of people's actions, therefore culture is not compatible with the environmental needs of any society. The educational institutions of the entire Awá indigenous community are witnessing great environmental challenges that challenge their survival. Proof of this is that new efforts and sensitivities are increasing in favor of protecting the environment from contamination. In this sense, the present work has the objective of developing pedagogical strategies to sensitize the students of the Awa la Brava indigenous educational center regarding the environmental contamination of their educational environment caused by solid waste. The methodology chosen for this work has a qualitative, descriptive approach; An instrument adapted for children about knowledge and assessments regarding pollution and solid waste is used, in which 36 primary school students participated. At the level of knowledge, the students recognize that their institution has a problem of environmental contamination, and they relate it to solid waste; however, they do not easily recognize the types of waste, nor can they issue their own concepts or environmental mechanisms to use solid waste; At the level of assessments, they have a high interest in being able to contribute to the improvement of this reality by appropriating new actions in favor of their environment; Finally, at the level of practices, they recognize that the school does not classify solid waste nor has it developed improvement actions around environmental contamination. Faced with this, a pedagogical strategy was implemented based on various activities ranging from art, social communication and research, to end at the beginning of a solid waste collection system. It is concluded that the pedagogical strategy did contribute to the awareness of the students and to the action according to sustainable environmental training.
