    El cáncer es una enfermedad crónica, cuya prevalencia ha ido acrecentándose a la par que la esperanza de vida ha ido aumentando, lo cual ha generado la necesidad de formular una terapia efectiva contra dicha enfermedad. El tratamiento del cáncer consiste en terapias químicas o de radiación que tienen la finalidad de eliminar las células neoplásicas, dichas terapias pueden provocar cambios a nivel sistémico, siendo la cavidad oral una de las más afectadas. El objetivo del presente trabajo es de recopilar las técnicas más adecuadas para el manejo odontológico de pacientes oncológicos, reportadas en la literatura desde 2016 hasta el año 2023. Empleando bases de datos como: PubMed, Scielo y Google Scholar, para la obtención de artículos científicos los cuales fueron sometidos a criterios de inclusión y exclusión, con el fin de obtener artículos de interés y acordes al objetivo de este artículo. La revisión de la literatura indico que debido al estado fisiológico a nivel oral que presentan estos pacientes requieren ciertas consideraciones y cambios en el modo de atender al paciente, siendo así que el empleo de un tratamiento preventivo y/o no invasivo, son las pautas más adecuadas para el manejo odontológico en pacientes oncológicos

    Cancer is a chronic disease, whose prevalence has been increasing as life expectancy has been increasing, which has generated the need to formulate an effective therapy against said disease. Cancer treatment consists of chemical or radiation therapies that are intended to eliminate neoplastic cells, such therapies can cause changes at a systemic level, with the oral cavity being one of the most affected. The objective of this work is to compile the most appropriate techniques for the dental management of cancer patients, reported in the literature from 2016 to 2023. Using databases such as: PubMed, Scielo and Google Scholar, to obtain scientific articles. which were subjected to inclusion and exclusion criteria, in order to obtain articles of interest and in accordance with the objective of this article. The review of the literature indicated that due to the physiological state at the oral level that these patients present require certain considerations and changes in the way of caring for the patient, while the use of a preventive and/or non-invasive treatment are the most appropriate guidelines. suitable for dental management in cancer patients
