Resumen de Reflexões sobre os nativos digitais

  This paper aims to answer the following question: do qualities attributed to the generation of the so-called “digital natives” (among other similar terms) really exist? This is a qualitative research, characterized as a literature review. The corpus of analysis consisted of works supporting the idea of the emergence of “digital natives” and their characterization, as well as studies confronting the characteristics attributed to that generation. The search was carried out considering texts by researchers that focus on the characterization of the “digital natives”, and others that demystify the alleged qualities of this group. The analysis of the corpus was performed by means of Content Analysis, resulting in two constructs from the emerging categories: Digital Natives; and Urban Legend? The results evidenced that many of the qualities attributed to the “digital natives” may be regarded as non-existent. Hence, it is understood that people born immersed in the world of digital information and communication technologies may even have more intuitive ability to interact with modern artifacts; yet, it is believed that, regarding the use of this ability to learn, they still need guidance.

  O presente texto pretende responder à seguinte questão: as qualidades atribuídas à geração denominada “nativos digitais” (entre outros termos análogos) realmente existem? Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, caracterizada como um estudo bibliográfico. O corpus analítico foi constituído por trabalhos que amparam a ideia do surgimento dos “nativos digitais” e sua caracterização, bem como por estudos que contestam as características atribuídas a essa geração. As buscas foram efetivadas a partir de textos de pesquisadores com foco na caracterização dos “nativos digitais” e de outros que desmistificam as qualidades apregoadas a este grupo. A análise do corpus se deu por meio da Análise de Conteúdo, que resultou em duas construções, a partir das categorias emergentes: Nativos Digitais; e Lenda Urbana? Os resultados indicam que muitas das qualidades atribuídas aos “nativos digitais” podem ser consideradas inexistentes. Desse modo, compreende-se que as pessoas que nasceram imersas no mundo das tecnologias digitais de informação e comunicação podem até apresentar maior capacidade intuitiva de interação com os artefatos modernos, porém acredita-se que, no que diz respeito ao emprego desta capacidade para a aprendizagem, ainda carecem de orientação.
