Resumen de "Iacovo de [L]anzano p(in)ixt". Un'inedita tavola 'veneziana' in Abruzzo

Marialuisa Lustri

  • In 1926, a fifteenth century painting representing the "Madonna and Child", signed by the unknown Abruzzian painter Jacopo da Lanciano, was registred in the sacristy of the archpriest's church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Lanciano. Mentioned just briefly on the website of the Diocesan Museum, where it is kept, the work remains unpublished and unknown to the majority of scholars outside of the Abruzzo. This study proposes some comparisons to bring the painting back to a mid-fifteenth century Venetian context, also advancing the hypothesis of a period of the Abruzzian artist as a disciple in the workshop of Michele Giambono. The text proposes some comparisons with the aim, on the one hand hand, of analyzing the affinity with some works by the Venetian master, and, on the other, the peculiarity of the Lancianese painting with certain aspects also gotten from a contemporary Paduan environment
