    Pretenem un primer acostament a l’aportació de Ramon Llull que fa en l’Art de contemplació, després dels estudis, de Le Jau Frost, Probst i de De Guibert, fa un segle. Apareix com la contemplació afavoireix una espiritualitat essencialment cristiana, doncs sorgeix de la contemplació de la Trinitat i de l’Encarnació, com a màxima compenetració del Creador amb la seva criatura, la persona humana, i de la Passió de Jesucrist, com a màxima entrega de Déu a la seva obra. Proposa contemplar les setze virtuts, diguem-ne dignitats o propietats de Déu, aplicant-hi les tres potències de l’ànima, memòria, enteniment i voluntat, prenent aquestes dignitats singularment o de dues en dues, o en més nombre. L’Art és per als ermitans i persones justes, sense més connotacions eclesiàstiques. És a l’abast de tot batejat, i mostra com la bondat infinita de Déu és oberta als infidels, misericòrdia que transpüa tots els 15 capítols de l’obra, el penúltim dels quals mostra com és la vida del contemplatiu, en la pràctica les virtuts teologals i cardinals, rebudes com a regal de Déu, i tanca l’obra amb el capítol sobre els set dimonis o pecats mortals, que tenen l’origen en les potències de l’ànima humana. Un excursus sobre les tres figures de l’oració, segons el Llibre de contemplació en Déu, enriqueix la proposta d’espiritualita a de Ramon Llull

    We take a first look at Ramon Llull’s contribution to the Art of Contemplation, after the studies of Le Jau Frost, Probst and De Guibert a century ago. It appears that contemplation favors an essentially Christian spirituality, as it arises from the contemplation of the Trinity and the Incarnation, as the maximum understanding of the Creator with his creature, the human person, and of the Passion of Jesus Christ, as the maximum surrenderof God in his work. It proposes to contemplate the sixteen virtues, let us call them dignities or properties of God, by applying to them the three powers of the soul, memory, understanding and will, taking these dignities singularly or in pairs, or in greater numbers. The Artis for hermits and righteous people, without any more ecclesiastical connotations. It is within reach of all the baptized, and shows how the infinite goodness of Godis open to the infidels, mercy that transposes all the 15 chapters of the work, the penultimate of which shows what the life of the contemplative is like, in practice the theological and cardinal virtues, received as a gift from God, and closes the work with the chapter on the seven demons or mortal sins, which have their origin in the powers of the human soul. An excursus on the three figures of prayer, according to the Book of Contemplation on God, enriches Ramon Llull’s proposal of spirituality.
