Resumen de Hidalgos e hidalguía en la Galicia bajomedieval

Desde los años sesenta del siglo pasado, la historiografía ha centrado el estudio de la nobleza desde la óptica de los grupos dominantes, aquellos que ejercían un papel preeminente sobre el conjunto de la sociedad, relegando a un segundo plano a aquellos otros que –pese a su misma condición de privilegiados– tuvieron una influencia menor y que han sido tradicionalmente identificados con la hidalguía. En este trabajo se ofrecen unas primeras consideraciones acerca del origen, evolución, distribución geográfica y características propias de la hidalguía en Galicia en un periodo que se extiende entre el último tercio del siglo XIV y las primeras décadas del siglo XVI.

Since the 1960s, historiography has focused the study of the nobility from the perspective of the dominant groups, those who exercised a predominant role over society as a whole, relegating to the background those others who –despite their privileged status had a lesser influence and have been traditionally identified with the nobility. This paper offers some initial considerations about the origin, evolution, geographical distribution and characteristics of the nobility in Galicia in a period that extends between the last third of the 14th century and the first decades of the 16th century.
