  Durante las últimas décadas del siglo XXI, el Cambio Climático (CC) ha ocupado un lugar importante en la agenda internacional no solo por los embates catastróficos que desencadena; sino, por los retos directos que plantea a los Estados, las empresas, a los organismos internacionales y a toda la placa social en neutralizar, paliar o re-direccionar sus respuestas frente al mega-impacto. Sus efectos, como los incidentes climáticos extremos, el aumento de la temperatura, el derretimiento de los glaciares, la escasez de recursos, y de los feroces daños inmediatos y descomunales en el medio ambiente y el terreno social no tiene un plazo de término. Frente a esta dantesca preocupación, la educación ambiental tiene definido su papel en desempeñar la promoción de la conciencia ecológica, la formación de ciudadanos para un desarrollo sostenible, pero, sobre todo, enfrentar el desafío de comprender de manera sólida los problemas, al tiempo de incorporar soluciones integradas. En esa línea, este ensayo recorre la relación entre educación ambiental y CC, destacando la indiscutible importancia de incorporar la temática ambiental en los currículos educativos para forjar y endurecer su rol en medio de una de las mayores amenazas del siglo XXI.

  During the last decades of the 21st century, Climate Change (CC) has occupied an important place on the international agenda, not only because of the catastrophic attacks it unleashes; but rather, due to the direct challenges it poses to States, companies, international organizations and the entire social plate in neutralizing, mitigating or redirecting their responses to the mega-impact. Its effects, such as extreme weather incidents, the increase in temperature,the melting of glaciers, the scarcity of resources, and the fierce immediate and colossal damage to the environment and the social terrain do not have a deadline. Faced with this daunting concern, environmental education has defined its role in promoting ecological awareness, training citizens for sustainable development, but, above all, facing the challenge of understanding the problems in a solid way, while incorporate integrated solutions. In this line, this essay covers the relationship between environmental education and CC, highlighting the indisputable importance of incorporating environmental issues into educational curricula to forge and harden their role in the midst of one of the greatest threats of the 21st century.
