Forma, tamaño y distribución de las partículas metálicas del polvo de las aleaciones para amalgama dental

    Se han analizado, mediante un medidor de partículas por haz láser, las partículas metálicas del polvo de 26 aleaciones para amalgama dental y 3 aleaciones de galio. Se han registrado parámetros tales como el tamaño máximo y mínimo, la media y percentiles 10 y 90 de distribución. Los resultados mostraron que las amalgamas de morfología de limallas presentaban unos rangos de distribución más amplios que el resto de las amalgamas. Las amalgamas esféricas registraron una distribución menor y las amalgamas de morfología dispersa o mezcla una distribución intermedia. Todas las amalgamas mostraron una tendencia hacia tamaños de partícula pequeños.

    The metallic particles contained in the powder of 26 alloys for dental amalgams and 3 gallium alloys were analysed by means of a laser particle meter. The measured parameters included the maximum and minimum size, the mean value and the percentiles 10 and 90 of the distribution. The results showed that the lathe-cut amalgams present wider distribution ranges than the rest of the amalgams, the spherical amalgams registered a smaller distribution and the amalgams of dispersed or mixed morphology an intermediate distribution. All the amalgams showed a tendency toward small particle sizes.
