    La docencia universitaria enfrenta hoy en día un importante desafío que implica cuestionar y resignificar su práctica y los saberes que la soportan. Este artículo ofrece un panorama sobre las orientaciones que han predominado en la formación de docentes universitarios y se detiene en el interés actual en el fortalecimiento de las competencias para el siglo XXI.

    University teaching today faces an important challenge that involves questioning and giving new meaning to its practice and the knowledge that supports it. This article offers an overview of the orientations that have prevailed in the training of university teachers and stops at the current interest of teacher training centers in higher education for the well-being of people as a starting point and for the strengthening of the life skills.
