El artículo es un análisis filosófico de la prosa de Francis Ponge, interpretada como una respuesta literaria a la singularidad irreducible de las cosas materiales. La cosa como cosa opone resistencia a cada intento de describirla en el lenguaje basado en conceptos, es heterogénea respecto a cualquier discurso unificatorio. Ese ser material de la cosa Jacques Derrida lo denomina la materialidad de khôra: la cosa no es ni uno, ni otro, pero simultáneamente uno y otro a la vez, tiene un carácter indeterminado como una esponja. Por eso una única respuesta textual posible es no describir la cosa, sino repetir la experiencia de su otredad radical en el medio de la prosa.

The paper presents a philosophical analysis of the prose of Francis Ponge which is seen as a response to the condition of irreducible singularity that characterises material things. The thing as a thing resists any attempts at describing it a language based on rational, conceptual structure. It is heterogenous, it always slips away the unifying discourses. Jacques Derrida calls this property of material things the materiality of khôra: the thing is nor this, nor that, nonetheless at same times it is both this and that. Accordingly, the thing becomes something indeterminate such as a sponge. That is why any possible literary or textual response to that condition should not aim at describing the thing but rather at repeating the experience of its radical otherness in language.
