Resumen de El desarrollo de las investigaciones arqueozoológicas en Nicaragua y su aporte al estudio de las interacciones hombre-fauna

Las investigaciones arqueológicas en Nicaragua se han enfocado en explicar el poblamiento de la región baja de Centroamérica y exponer las relaciones culturales de estos grupos humanos entre Mesoamérica y la zona sur del continente americano. En el presente artículo se valora el aporte de las investigaciones arqueozoológicas en Nicaragua, el estado actual de las investigaciones y el futuro de la misma. Asimismo, se discuten los postulados metodológicos y teóricos aplicados en la arqueología nicaragüense y en caso particular las investigaciones arqueofaunísticas desarrolladas. Considerando que el territorio nicaragüense se encuentra en una zona tropical, este se integra por una rica biodiversidad faunística, vegetal y geográfica, el cual fue un escenario idóneo para el desarrollo de sociedades complejas a lo largo del tiempo, capaces de aprovechar los recursos naturales de la región e integrarlos a sus prácticas culturales cotidianas.

Archaeological investigations in Nicaragua have focused on explaining the settlement of the lower region of Central America and exposing the cultural relationships of these human groups between northern Mesoamerica and the southern part of the American continent. This article discusses the contribution of archaeozoological research in Nicaragua, the current state of research and its future. Likewise, the methodological and theoretical postulates applied in Nicaraguan archeology and in particular the archaeofaunistic investigations carried out are discussed. Considering that the Nicaraguan territory is located in a tropical zone, it is made up of a rich fauna, plant and geographical biodiversity, which was an ideal setting for the development of complex societies over time, capable of taking advantage of the natural resources of the region and integrate them into their daily cultural practices.
