Resumen de Estrés y burnout en veterinarios del Valle de los Chillos

  El Médico Veterinario está expuesto a un sinnúmero de factores en sus labores diarias que pueden ir deteriorando su salud mental y emocional. El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar el estrés y burnout a través de la aplicación de dos cuestionarios: Test “Maslach Burnout Inventory” y Test “Perceived Stress Scale”, y determinar los factores de estrés en los médicos veterinarios que ejercen su profesión en el Valle de los Chillos en la ciudad de Quito.

  Los resultados encontrados en el Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) Test realizado a Médicos Veterinarios que trabajan en la ciudad de Quito en el Valle de los Chillos, muestran la relación entre las diferentes variables estudiadas (género y edad) y el cansancio emocional. La distribución de los casos positivos (indicios de Síndrome de Burnout) fueron 52 % positivas.

  Más de la mitad de los encuestados presentó indicios de Síndrome de Burnout lo que sugiere mayor tendencia al cansancio emocional y despersonalización.

  The veterinarian is exposed to a number of factors in their daily work that can deteriorate their mental and emotional health. The objective of this research was to evaluate stress and burnout through the application of two questionnaires: Test "Maslach Burnout Inventory" and Test "Perceived Stress Scale", and determine the stress factors in veterinarians who practice their profession in the Valle de los Chillos in the city of Quito.   The results found in the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) Test performed on Veterinarians working in the city of Quito in the Valley of the Chillos, show the relationship between the different variables studied (gender and age) and emotional fatigue. Che distribution of positive cases (signs of Burnout Syndrome) were 52% positive.  More than half of the respondents presented signs of Burnout Syndrome which suggests a greater tendency to emotional fatigue and depersonalization.
