    La presente investigación se llevó a cabo con el objetivo de analizar el abandono familiar y su relación con el estado emocional de los adultos mayores en el barrio Paraíso del cantón Salinas. Con un enfoque cuantitativo y un método de investigación correlacional, se utilizaron dos variables: abandono familiar y estado emocional de los adultos mayores. Para medir el nivel de satisfacción de las personas mayores, se empleó la escala de Likert en la encuesta estructurada ( muy satisfecho, satisfecho, ni satisfecho, ni insatisfecho, Insatisfecho, muy insatisfecho), que consistió en preguntas que permitieron obtener información importante acerca del tema a estudiar. Los resultados revelaron una correlación significativa entre el abandono familiar y la depresión en este grupo de personas, lo que sugiere que el abandono es un factor estresante importante que puede contribuir al desarrollo de trastornos emocionales en los adultos mayores. Estos hallazgos destacan la importancia de fortalecer las relaciones familiares y fomentar un ambiente afectivo y seguro para los adultos mayores, para mejorar su calidad de vida y prevenir la aparición de problemas emocionales

    The present investigation was carried out with the objective of analyzing family abandonment and its relationship with the emotional state of the elderly in the Paraíso neighborhood of the Salinas canton. With a quantitative approach and a correlational research method, two variables were used: family abandonment and emotional state of the elderly. To measure the level of satisfaction of the elderly, the Likert scale was used in the structured survey (very satisfied, satisfied, neither satisfied, nor dissatisfied, Dissatisfied, very dissatisfied), which consisted of questions that allowed obtaining important information about the subject to study. The results revealed a significant correlation between family abandonment and depression in this group of people, suggesting that abandonment is a major stressor that may contribute to the development of emotional disorders in older adults. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening family relationships and fostering an affective and safe environment for older adults, to improve their quality of life and prevent the onset of emotional problems.
