Resumen de Indígenas universitarios: su percepción del sistema educativo y la función docente como vía de reproducción o cambio social

En México, a finales del siglo XX, ante el incremento del flujo migratorio hacia las grandes ciudades por parte de los indígenas, se abren nuevas oportunidades para esta población de continuar sus estudios superiores en instituciones públicas o privadas. La pregunta que origina este artículo busca conocer la percepción que tienen los indígenas universitarios acerca del sistema educativo que se instaura tanto en sus comunidades como en la urbe. Los resultados obtenidos de las entrevistas en profundidad, muestran una postura crítica de los informantes, en donde se percibe una educación que propaga las desigualdades sociales buscando el control de la sociedad y perpetuando un sistema para la élite y las clases sociales privilegiadas.

In México, at the end of the 20th Century, new opportunities aroused for indigenous population to continue their university studies in public or private institutions due to the increase in migration to the big cities. Thequestion that originated this article is to understand the perception that the indigenous university students have regarding the educational system installed both at their communities and cities. The results obtained from the in-depth interviews show a critical stance from the informants; they perceived an educational system that perpetuates social inequalities, searching for society’s control and preserving a system for the elite and the privileged social classes.
