Resumen de Oferta y demanda de profesores de primaria en el Estado de Yucatán

Se presenta un estudio de la oferta y demanda de profesores de primaria en el estado de Yucatán. La meta de universalizar la escuela primaria es el punto de partida del estudio, en el que se considera la tendencia histórica en el crecimiento poblacional y en la demanda de educación primaria así como las características de la población que demanda este servicio. Por otra parte se analiza también la tendencia histórica en la formación inicial de maestros en ese nivel educativo. De continuar las tendencias observadas en el pasado, se anticipa un desequilibrio. Sin embargo, regular el equilibrio entre la oferta y la demanda de profesores de primaria no es el único problema que se pone de manifiesto, se recomienda revisar la formación de los profesores con el propósito de mejorar el servicio educativo de la población escolar yucateca, considerando especialmente las poblaciones con mayor riesgo de abandono escolar.

A study on the offer and demand of elementary school teachers in the State of Yucatan is presented here. The starting point of the study is the goal for the globalization of elementary education, where the historical tendencies in population growth is considered as well as the characteristics of the people that demand such service. Also the historical tendency about the initial training for teachers is such educational level is revised. If the tendencies that were observed in the past continue the way it is, an imbalance is expected to happen. Trying to balance the offer and demand of elementary teachers is not the only issue that it is considered here, but it is also recommended to revise the training of elementary level teachers in order to improve the educational services offered to the people of Yucatan considering in special way those towns with higher rate of school drop-outs.
