Resumen de Vulvas, pechos y úteros a finales del siglo XX. Repensando el cuerpo sexuado en el arte contemporáneo vasco

Las representaciones del cuerpo sexuado femenino en el arte contemporáneo están vinculadas a un lugar y momento específico. Acostumbramos a situar estas obras en clave de celebración y reapropiación del propio cuerpo en Estados Unidos y durante los años setenta, como resultado de la segunda ola del feminismo. Sin embargo, se pueden encontrar vulvas, pechos y úteros representados por artistas mujeres en contextos geográficos e históricos diferentes. Uno de estos ejemplos lo encontramos en el País Vasco durante los años noventa. Si bien no son numerosos los ejemplos, aquellos identificados ofrecen la posibilidad de revisar estrategias comunes. En el presente artículo se analiza y teoriza en torno a las obras de artistas nacidas en la generación de los sesenta, para comprender cómo se formularon estas representaciones y qué parecidos y diferencias tuvieron con otros ejemplos extranjeros.

The representations of the female sexed body in contemporary art are linked to a specific place and time. We are used to situating these works in terms of celebration and reappropriation of one's own body in the United States and during the seventies, as a result of the second wave of feminism. However, vulvas, breasts, and uteruses depicted by female artists can be found in different geographic and historical contexts. One of these examples is located in the Basque Country during the nineties. Although the examples are not numerous, those identified offer the possibility of reviewing common strategies. This article analyzes and theorizes about the works of artists from born in the sixties, to understand how these representations were formulated and what similarities and differences they had with other foreign examples.
