Durante la segunda mitad del siglo XV y el inicio del XVI, gracias a la calidad de las producciones vítreas de Venecia y Barcelona, se produce un cambio en la percepción y aprecio de esta materia por parte de las élites en Europa. En este capítulo, se analiza la materialidad del vidrio a partir de algunos ejemplares representados en la pintura del gótico tardío, el reducido corpus de objetos conservados y las referencias escritas en inventarios. Finalmente, se aborda el fenómeno del coleccionismo con las piezas de Isabel I de Castilla

During the second half of the fifteenth century and the beginning of the sixteenth, thanks to the quality of the glass productions of Venice and Barcelona, there is a change in the perception and appreciation of this material by the elites in Europe. In this chapter, the materiality of glass in analyzed from some examples represented in late Gothic painting, the limited corpus of preserved objects and the written references from inventories. Finally, the phenomenon of collecting is addressed with the pieces of Isabel I of Castile
