El ensayo investiga un periodo de la vida de Guillermo Prieto con la finalidad de explicarlo en el contexto del periodo que corresponde a la Reforma, la intervención tripartita y el Segundo Imperio. Se trata de una primera aproximación al momento en el que Prieto se distancia de Benito Juárez debido a su alianza con Jesús González Ortega, aspecto que ha sido poco abordado por sus biógrafos porque en estos trabajos son fundamentalmente apologéticos.

This essay aproaches a period of Guillermo Prieto's life in order to explain him in the context of this period, which corresponds to the Reforma, the Tripartite Intervention and the Second Empire. It is a first approximation to the moment in which Prieto distances himself from Benito Juárez due to the alliance with Jesús González Ortega. This is an aspect that has been little addressed by his biographers since these studies are fundamentally apologetic.
