    La novela La invención de la soledad de Paul Auster evoca el duelo de un hombre por la pérdida de su padre. El protagonista, a partir de la muerte de su antecesor, emprende una búsqueda incansable para intentar construir-reconstruir algo de aquel hombre. En ese recorrido, se da un juego de identificaciones entre el padre y el hijo, que recuerda a un juego de espejos.

    This essay analyses, from a psychoanalytic view, the protagonist of Paul Auster’s novel The Invention of the Solitude. The death of the father and the relentless reconstruction of his image is one of the central themes of this literary work and of the obsessive neurosis. Aspects of the obsessive discourse such as indirectness, continuity and displacement are analyzed.
