  • México tiene un importante patrimonio arqueológico, conformado por los vestigios de diversas civilizaciones que existieron antes de la llegada de los conquistadores españoles; sin embargo ha sufrido los embates del robo y la expoliación. El saqueo del Cenote Sagrado de Chichen Itzá representa uno de los casos más destacados, el cual fue cometido por Edward Thompson a finales del siglo XIX y las primeras décadas del XX, Pedro Castro en su libro reconstruye la historia de esta acción.Mexico has an important archaeological heritage, composed of the remains of civilizations that existed before the Spaniards arrived. However it has suffered at the hands of looting and illicit digging. The plunder of “Cenote Sagrado” is one of the most notable examples of those actions, committed by Edward Thomson at the end of the XIX century and in the first decades of the XX; in Pedro Castro's book, he reconstructs that history.
