Conocimientos y actitudes de estudiantes universitarios sobre la problemática VIH/SIDA

    Introducción: el Virus de la Inmunodeficiencia Humana ataca el sistema inmunitario y debilita los sistemas de vigilancia y defensa en un corto lapso de tiempo, sin tratamiento oportuno. Las personas que poseen más conocimientos sobre la enfermedad, presentan tasas favorables de interés y de esta manera toman actitudes para evitar contraer la infección. Por ello, nos propusimos indagar los conocimientos y actitudes sobre el VIH/SIDA en estudiantes de diferentes carreras de la Universidad Nacional del Nordeste. Metodología: Estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal, que incluyó estudiantes de 4to a 6to año de las Carrera de Medicina y Abogacía de la Universidad Nacional del Nordeste.  Los datos fueron obtenidos mediante un encuesta ad hoc, enviada vía WhatsApp, posteriormente se volcó los datos en una planilla de Excel 2007 y fueron analizados con SPPS V25. Resultados: Se analizaron un total de 180 encuestas completas, el 59,4% pertenece a estudiantes de medicina y el 40,6% a estudiantes de abogacía. La edad media fue 24,6 ± 4 años. El 98,3% escucho o leyó alguna vez sobre el tema y el 60% de ambas carreras se informa sobre el tema a través de sus amigos. En su mayoría considera que el uso de preservativo protege la transmisión del VIH. Conclusión: Se observó un buen nivel de conocimiento. Sin embargo, sería interesante ampliar la población de estudio para llegar a un mayor número de estudiantes y de esta manera cada individuo pueda realizar una autoevaluación sobre sus conocimientos del VIH/SIDA.

    Introduction: the Human Immunodeficiency Virus attacks the immune system and weakens the surveillance and defense systems in a short period of time, without timely treatment. People who have more knowledge about the disease, have favorable interest rates and in this way take attitudes to avoid contracting the infection. For this reason, we set out to investigate the knowledge and attitudes about HIV / AIDS in students of different careers at the National University of the Northeast. Methodology: Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study, which included students from 4th to 6th year of the Medicine and Law Careers of the National University of the Northeast. The data were obtained through an ad hoc survey, sent via WhatsApp, later the data was uploaded into an Excel 2007 spreadsheet and were analyzed with SPPS V25. Results: A total of 180 completed surveys were analyzed, 59.4% belonged to medical students and 40.6% to law students. The mean age was 24.6 ± 4 years. 98.3% have heard or read about the subject at some time and 60% of both careers find out about the subject through their friends. Most consider that the use of condoms protects the transmission of HIV. Conclusion: A good level of knowledge was observed. However, it would be interesting to expand the study population to reach a greater number of students and in this way each individual can carry out a self-assessment on their knowledge of HIV / AIDS.
