Procedural timing is an important aspect of the procedures for granting international protection, especially if it is addressed in view of the problem of the delicate dichotomy between the need for timely protection of the fundamental rights of the person and the certainty and stability of legal relations and the instances of efficient control of immigration in relation to security and public order.
The case of “accelerated procedures” raises some additional problematic issues relating to the shortening of procedural deadlines and the impact on the effective guarantee of the protection of foreign nationals.
