The current Venezuelan migration crisis has presented unprecedented challenges to Latin America, with over 7 million Venezuelan refugees and migrants seeking refuge in other countries of the region. To address this crisis, it is crucial to examine the role of public international law and regional integration. This requires consideration of relevant international instruments and regional frameworks, such as those governing the protection of migrants’ rights in Mercosur.
This article analyzes and compares the treatment of Venezuelan migrants in Argentina and Uruguay, with a focus on the approaches taken by each country to protect their rights.
By evaluating their compliance with international and regional standards, this analysis aims to identify the particularities of each country's approach and highlight opportunities for improvement.
