El artículo plantea cómo se percibe el enfoque securitario de la política migratoria europea a través del discurso institucional y político de la Unión Europea (UE). Un discurso que hace hincapié en el control de las fronteras exteriores y el retorno de los inmigrantes como acción prioritaria en la lucha contra la “inmigración ilegal” –usando la terminología comunitaria– en la UE, convirtiendo así la figura del inmigrante en situación administrativa irregular en una “amenaza” para el territorio comunitario. Para responder al papel que desempeña la securitización en la interpretación del hecho migratorio, se han analizado documentos jurídicos-administrativos elaborados por el Parlamento Europeo, el Consejo de la UE, la Comisión Europea y el Consejo Europeo sobre inmigración durante el período 2000-2021.

The article sets out how the securitarian approach to European migration policy is perceived through the institutional and political discourse of the European Union (EU).
A speech that emphasizes the control of the external borders and the return of immigrants as a priority action in the fight against ‘illegal immigration’ –using communitarian terminology– in the EU, thus building the figure of the migrant in irregular administrative situation into a threat to Community territory. In order to respond the role that the securitization plays in the interpretation of the migration fact, there have been analyzed legal-administrative documents produced by the European Parliament, the Council of the EU, the European Commission and the European Council on the subject of immigration during the period 2000-2021.
